Cedar Hills Ready! "What’s cooking? Food storage & prep for a disaster”
Join us at 7 PM, April  21st, 2021
Were you cold and hungry when the ice storms shut down power in February? How will you feed your family when the power goes out for days or weeks? We are seeing an increase in emergencies that require sheltering in place. Are you ready for the next one?
Maureen Quinn Lores, an educator from Oregon State University extension service, will be teaching us about how to prepare food and supplies for sheltering in place. We'll be meeting on Zoom at 7 PM on Wednesday, April 21st, 2021. Join your friends and neighbors at Cedar Hills Ready! and Quake Up! for a free, fun and informative meeting. Everyone is welcome. Share and invite all of your important people.

Food Safety During Power Outage
Refrigerated Food and Power Outages: When to Save It and When to Throw It Out
As the USDA notes in Keeping Food Safe During an Emergency, your refrigerator will keep food safe for up to 4 hours during a power outage. Keep the door closed as much as possible. Discard refrigerated perishable food such as meat, poultry, fish, eggs, and leftovers after 4 hours without power.
After a power outage never taste food to determine its safety. You will have to evaluate each item separately - use this chart as a guide. When in Doubt, Throw it Out!
