Quake Up! Neighborhood Ready! Program

Emergency/Disaster Neighborhood Ready! Program

Picture
This is the means your neighborhood will be able to organize and coordinate efforts to help each other before, during and after a disaster.
Plan. Prepare. Practice.
Objectives of the Emergency/Disaster Neighborhood Ready! program is to:
› Provide information so that your neighborhood knows how to
help each other and stay safe.
 › Understand what is happening.
› Solve problems using what your neighborhood has available.
› Provide a safe gathering place for members of the
    neighborhood to support one another.

The following are neighborhoods that are self organizing that Quake Up! is encouraged by and support. If you are interested in putting together Your Emergency/Disaster Neighborhood Ready! program, please contact us.

Neighborhood Ready!

What does it take to prepare for a disaster and/or an emergency is first to
- take care of yourself and your family. Then,
- develop a working relationship with your neighbors. You and they are the First Responders in a disaster. This comes about by a process or program that takes
- Planning + Preparing + Practice = Resilience.

There are several programs that are being used. Map Your Neighborhood (MYN), and a few that have incorporated additional steps that are critical. This was developed by a group in Tualatin, who broadened the MYN program and has been further developed with Tualatin by a group in Cedar Hills. They are calling it Neighborhood Ready!
This is accomplished by what is referred to as Neighborhood Captains or Hosts to develop the neighborhood plan, prepare, practice for resilience. Learning who your neighbors are, what their skills and abilities are, and the equipment which can be utilized in a disaster and/or an emergency saves people's lives and property.

Due to the Covid-19 and now the fire/smoke affecting us all, Cedar Hills Ready! is working on this via Zoom meetings to get this started. They are willing to work with other neighborhoods to help out. They will be having their first meeting soon and that will be recorded. Stay tuned . . . .

Tigard Community Preparedness Fair 2019

Tigard is hosting their Annual Community Preparedness Fair next Friday, July 19th, 6-9pm at Cook Park (Eastside soccer fields).
This is a family friendly event.
There's lots of demos,  kids activities, vendors, food samples, door prizes...and live music and a free BBQ.
Whether it's an everyday emergency or the CSZ earthquake this is a great place to jump start your preparedness kit or add to the one you have.
Feel free to share with family, friends, co-workers and neighbors.
A prepared community is a resilient community.
Hope to see you all there!

Quake Up! will also be attending this Community Preparedness Fair this upcoming Friday. Looking forward to meeting with and sharing information as to the steps to take to become Emergency/Disaster Prepared.
Plan. Prepare. Practice.

Cedar Hills Ready!

2018-19
We are organizing. Join your neighbors with Our Communities Emergency Disaster program.
Natural disasters have been increasing over the last few decades, and people are losing their homes, neighborhoods, and lives. Cedar Hills is vulnerable to earthquakes. We need to get prepared. FEMA says emergency services will be overwhelmed in a natural disaster; they won't be able to help you for weeks, if not months. Your best prospect for survival is being prepared--individually and with neighbors. If we do nothing to prepare, you could lose it all--family, friends, pets, and home.
We can alter this predictable future as a community by preparing together with our neighbors. Come find out how to get prepared at Cedar Hills Ready!, a neighborhood event organized by neighbors and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers. This event will be a family friendly event, with activities for kids and adults alike.
